ECM Summit: Consultants – add more power!

ECM World Congress, Frankfurt: Is this it?

Almost hundred people joined the event, at least. (www.ecm-summit.de)

Keynotes were held by german consulter Ulrich Kampffmeyer, who focused on the Human Impact-Factor of Online Media, knallgrau CEO Dieter Rappolt, who presented some general highlight of nice campaigns (of course BMW) and Headshift Founder Lee Bryant, who emphasized that oldschool intranets are boring.

I think we have to speed up.

This is what companies know, I’m almost afraid that intranet managers consider it as an insult to talk to consultants about general perspectives and possibilities of new media – we’ve heard that, we’ve tested it – now we want to do something with it.

There are many more detailed problems we have to care about, having solutions either from case studies or from new technical perspectives would be the really brainmoving content.

I think that contentmanagers, especially intranetmanagers have now transformed from editors to inhouse consultants and coaches. Most intranets have a lot of common challenges, that are completely different than internet challenges. You dont get these if you have not worked in a really large enterprise for a certain time, or if you have not run a lot of intanet projects.

I cant exactly tell what that really means for their informational nees, but what I definitely know is: it’s more.

It’s always fun to talk to experienced consultants, but once more: add some gears. We need more impact and more power if we want to achieve something in the enterprises.
